The International Federation for Information Processing celebrated 50 years of existence at its World Computer Congress in Brisbane Australia from 20 - 23 September. CSZ was represented by its president, Atwell Mukusha, past-president and IFIP representative Lawrence Gudza and director Geoff Fairall.
The Congress was attended by more than 1000 delegates from all over the world and had 17 simultaneous conference tracks. It was an excellent opportunity to network with representatives from other Computer Societies most of whom having similar goals to CSZ and on particular to share ideas on the IP3 ICT Professional initiative which we have already joined. There will be a presentation at Summer School to inform members more about this and the direction CSZ should be taking.
CSZ has been a member of IFIP since 1987 but has been absent from the annual General Assembly for several years so it was good to be back . IFIP has brought a number of benefits to CSZ and hopefully this will continue.
